Homemade Candles

I was looking online last night for cheap crafts that I could do and found a website about making candles. So I went to the dollar store and got glass heat resistant glass containers/candle holders, some packs of emergency candles and some scents for oil warmers.
First thing you do is melt down the wax. You can use wax squares but we dont have craft stores here so I just got cheap candles. You HAVE to melt them like this. Using a double broiler or by putting a metal or tin container in a pot of boiling water. Don't use something you want to keep because its a pain to clean out afterwards! Since making your own wicks take forever I just pulled the wicks out of these candles once the candles got soft enough. Once they are completely melted you add the scent and some crayons of your choice. One crayon will make it colorful but I used three crayons in mine to make the color really bright.
Tie the wicks around something and set them on top of the container so that the wick falls in the middle. And then poor the wax into them.
Put them in the freezer for like 20-30 minutes until they are completely hard.
And then cut the wick to the size you want!
I hot glued some buttons on one of the vases. Alex doesn't like it but I do :-)

These are the first two I did so they don't look the greatest. I took them out of the freezer before they were done and so the tops aren't smooth.
It took less than 2 hours to do them :-)
My favorite

I tried to make a layered one but I didn't let the top wax cool enough before I poured it so it ran into the bottom color. Still looks cool though :-)
