More Blinds and Some Flooring!

These aren't the best pictures, but it gives you an idea. I LOVE the floors! It goes perfect with the wall color and white trim. We decided today to do the floor trim white, Alex put a strip of it under the windows and texted me the picture (down below) and it's going to look awesome! So the bathroom floors and bedroom floors need to be done still. The bathrooms will be a kind of vinyl material and the bedrooms will be carpet. We have a very very amazing friend who is doing them for us and so we're just waiting for him to have time. Alex and his dad got the new dishwasher and oven in today and I love them too! Alex also got almost all of the ceiling lights up and more blinds up today too. So he'll just keep working on blinds and floor trim while we're waiting for the rest of the flooring to get done and I'll probably start moving things in slowly since the kitchen is done! If I can get the kitchen all situated that'll be that much less I'll have to do when we move in.

Paint is done! Almost....

Thanks to Alex and Derrick we saved days worth of work and they used the paint gun to spray ceilings and walls, both coats, in like 4 hours!! Amazing. Derricks paint gun bit the dust after spraying the primer so Alex had to go buy one but its fine because we'll use it this summer to paint the outside of the house. So the past couple of days i've just been painting trim, the bathroom cabinets and touching up. My mom came Saturday and helped a ton by almost all of the window trim. Flooring should be done this week!

I cant remember if I posted pictures of these yet, but here are the holes for the 6 LED recessed lights that will be in the living room. Alex is VERY excited about them. Im just excited that they'll be on a dimmer switch.
Speaking of, heres the switch for them. Alex went around and changed all the outlets and switches to new white ones. Looks WAY better. Its amazing how the little things change the look so much.
Alex also started putting in the blinds today. Love them! They still need the molding at the top though. And doesnt the white trim look awesome with the whitecliff beige walls??
Definitely needs to be cleaned up before the carpet goes in...
Another picture of the wall color with the newly painted white trim and new white outlets ;-)

Getting Closer!

So since the last post a lot has been done. Just little things here and there. The holes in the floor and ceiling were patched and mudded over. We did a lot of fixing holes in the walls (there were ALOT) a lot of time consuming things. Alex, Bob and some friends did some electrical work and made holes in the living room ceiling where the recessed lighting will go. Today Bob and Alex textured the WHOLE house.  Ceilings and walls. And Alex's dad was a huge help and used this nifty thing that tapes and puts up plastic at the same time. Saved a ton of time. So everything's taped off, texture is done and Alex will use a spray gun to spray primer everywhere on Monday. Then as soon as that is dry we should be able to paint! Yay! We decided today that we're going to paint the ceilings and walls the same color. It will save a TON of time. I like white ceilings a lot but I think having them the same color will look ok. And if not, oh well! I'll deal. I'm SO thankful for Bob and Alex and Derrick who have done SO SO much work. Alex has been working close to 16 hours days between work and working on the house. And we're getting closer!

We decided to just mud, texture and paint the chimney for now. If we find something like rock to do later we can always add it.

One More For Tonight...

Alex just texted me this picture of the kitchen after they took the cabinet out so I figure I'd go ahead and make it's own post....

Before

After! I love it. It makes it so much bigger and less awkward to get around.

Update

Ok! So the house is still a DISASTER but a lot has been getting done. It's hard for me because nothing has been done as far as painting or making it looking better so I'm getting a little bummed. But we're almost done with all the construction type stuff and painting is next! Then I'll finally be able to see some progress as far as the looking good part goes ;-)

These are the 4 colors we were deciding on. The top left is what I was 100 percent sure I wanted and the one I spent weeks picking out. Once we got it on the wall I hated it. So we're going with the bottom left one.

Here's what it looked like when we got there today. Water heater to the left.

And this is what it looked like later. No more water heater! We moved it into Ali's closet (picture further down) We're going to leave the chimney there, after a TON of debate. We want to eventually hook a natural gas fireplace up to it to save money. I really want to cover it in stone veneer (google it) but its super expensive so I'm trying to find another way to make it look cool. Worst case scenario we'll just sheet rock it and paint it but I want something more unique and more of a statement piece....?

The poor living room....

This was one of my projects today. I hate shower doors. They get in the way with giving the kids baths and they get nasty dirty and moldy in the tracks. And I think they look dated and make the bathroom seem smaller.
So I took it out. ALL BY MYSELF! (it wasn't hard)

Ali's closet, now with the water heater. I can not WAIT to paint that ugly blue room.

Stupid Wall Is Coming Down!

So the stupid wall is coming down! Literally 10 minutes after we decided Alex was at the house ripping it down. He sent me very good pictures, as requested ;-)

He found this is the wall. It's a piece of the Los Angeles Times from April 26, 1981 which is when I'm assuming the chimney was put it. Kind of cool

Disaster Area!

We bought a house! Actually, what I've been saying is, "We bought a fixer upper!" because that's what it is. But its OURS! So here's the before pictures. They are all out of order but whatever.

This is a view from the living room on the left you see the dining room, down the hall to the left is the bathroom and two kids bedrooms. Behind that stupid wall is nothing. IN the stupid wall is a brick chimney that they decided to cover up..... eventually I would like to take it down. To the right is where the front door is and our room.
Another view from the living room into the dining room. Nice tile, right? Yeah, that's all gone now thanks to a bunch of awesome guys. The gold chandelier thing and wallpaper are also gone, YAY
This is the kitchen from the dining room. The room that needs the least amount of work! I love the cabinets. They're pretty new and updated. New, big fridge. We're getting a new dishwasher and oven. Just white normal priced ones. And we THINK we are going to take out that whole section of cabinet that my camera bag is sitting on in the picture. It makes the kitchen feel small
Another angle from the dining room. You can see the kids looking out the windows. They LOVE it

Old Oven
 View from the dining room
 View from the kitchen
View from just inside the front entry. I LOVE those windows.

Two more windows on the other wall
Kids bathroom has doors that will come off and be replaced with a rod and curtains.
That gross blue tile is now out of the bathroom thank goodness! And I'm thinking about taking that cabinet off the wall under the window. Its too big.
Another picture of the kids bathroom. All wood will be painted white!
This is Ali's room. All the rooms are getting new doors as well as floors and paint.

Washer and dyer is down the hall from the bathroom and the kids rooms, They took out this tile floor too
Ryan's room/Play Room because its bigger. Again, all new doors and paint
 Ryans Room
Built in bookshelf on the other side of the 'Stupid' wall
this is the walkway behind the stupid wall
This is the coat closet directly across from the front door. And you can see our bedroom is directly to the right after you walk in. Kind of weird but whatever.
Master bedroom has two of these closets. We're putting mirrored sliding doors on both.
Itty Bitty corner shower in our bathroom

 Lots of counter space

master door on left master bathroom door on right
 master from the closets

 Another living room view

Kitchen has lots of storage
Not a fan of the countertops but you'll see what I do with them later ;-)

Popcorn free ceilings!! Woo hoo! Alex is SO sore
Tile getting broken up and scooped away
 Carpet Gone!
Nasty! So glad we took it out.
 The ceiling is falling!!
 Popcorn everywhere.

So there's the most recent pictures. I'll keep posting more as we go. It looks a lot cleaner now than in those last pictures because all the flooring is gone. Thank you to everyone who helped Alex!
